This evening on Nite Line, Dave Walton hosts special guests David Parsons, author of the recently released Floodgates, and Calvin Hunter, crusade evangelist of Sword Ministries.
David R. Parsons is an author, attorney, journalist, ordained minister, and Middle East Specialist, currently serving as vice president and senior spokesman for ICEJ – the International Christian Embassy Jerusalem. He earned a BA in history in 1981, and a juris doctorate degree in 1986 from Wake Forest University. After practicing law in North Carolina for five years, he then served as General Counsel and a register pro-Israel lobbyist for the Christians’ Israel Public Action Campaign in Washington, DC, from 1991 to 1995. It was then that Parsons began to serve with ICEJ, becoming their spokesmen in 1997.
In this capacity, David has conducted interviews with both print and broadcast journalists from all over the world and has published commentaries and other writings in newspapers and journals worldwide. Additionally, he served eight years as the co-editor of monthly periodical The Jerusalem Post Christian Edition and ten years as the producer and co-host of Front Page Jerusalem, the premier Israeli Christian radio broadcast. In December of 2008, he was honored with ordination as a minister in the Liberty Christian Fellowship ministerial association located in Dallas, Texas.
While born an American citizen in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, he, his wife Josepha, and his son Yonathan Amos all reside in Jerusalem, Israel.
Calvin Hunter, son of the founders of Sword Ministries, is a crusade evangelist with the ministry, but it was not always so obvious that God would have his way with Calvin. Despite growing up with a powerful healing evangelist as his father, Calvin eventually found himself immersed in the drug culture – both taking drugs and dealing them as well. It was during an overdose that he cried out to the God of his father and his childhood to rescue him, and rescue him God did!
Now on fire for the Lord, Calvin ministers to the youth everywhere he goes. Jonathan Bond, of Young Harmony fame, has been nominated three years in a row for Dove Awards – both as a recording artist and separately as a songwriter!
He has served the Lord in full-time ministry since 1995, but even prior to that defining decision he traveled and sang for the Lord as part of the McClure Trio. As a recording artists, he has fourteen projects under his belt, both solo and jointly, and one of the songs he penned has been nominated as the Southern Gospel Song of the Year as well as overall Song of the Year!
In 2008, he and his wife were inducted into the North America Country Music Hall of Fame. You will not want to miss these powerful men of God tonight!
